Distinguishing Dharma by Wisdom Eyes

Distinguishing Dharma by Wisdom Eyes
JUN/17/ 2023—JUN / 18/ 2023

Hello everyone, welcome to our Dharma talk at Great Thunder Meditation Center.

What is wisdom eyes?
Wisdom eyes are not the eye from human or animals’ bodies; wisdom eyes mean grand wisdom.
My master often says that he Every Dharma talk will help beings open their wisdom eyes, every sentence and every word help people open their wisdom eyes.

Since Osifu said “to open the wisdom eyes”, we have the wisdom eyes originally.
Dibba-cakkhu is not a eye, dibba-sotais not an ear, thought transferring is not a heart, pubbe-nivāsanussati is not a life, iddhi-vidhā is not a foot, āsavakkhaya is not no leaking, six abhiññās are wonderful functions that from Buddha’s nature.

Wisdom is all kind of miraculous functions that from Buddha’s nature, we cannot attain enlightenment because of wandering thoughts, discriminations, and attachments.
Precepts, samadhi and wisdom, are three faces of one body, can not be separated. Strictly abide by the precepts, cultivate samadhi diligently, clear our body, language, and mind, all kinds of wisdom will naturally show up.

We often say, “The Dharma is boundless”. The Dharma can solve all the problems, but the biggest problem for us now is that there are too many Dharma in this world, which makes things complicated. One Karmapa said that he could help you eliminate all the sins of the world. Another famous monk tells you that he will allow you to link up with the Buddha, how can we choose? How can we use our wisdom to figure out the Dharma that we should practice? How can we know it is a real Dharma or not?

If we learned fake Buddhism Dharma, it just like took some counterfeit medicine for your health, which would not naturally cure the disease. It may have bad effects. In this Dharma ending period, there are so many chaos complicated things. Fake temples, false Dharma, false jealousy, false Buddhism ceremony, false Dharma gate, false law, false relic, false mercy, false charity, false public interest activities, famous fake monks cohabit with real Dharma and cultivation.

We must not use real denial goods because we have bought fakes, do not real denial drugs because we took fake drugs, do not real denial masters because you followed the evil ones, and do not deny real Dharma because you learned evil Dharma. Do not count the sins of false Dharma, false swearing, false temples and heretics on the Buddha. It is unfair! Buddha no longer speaks after his Nirvana, to a certain extent, the Buddha was used as a tool for some people to make money and profit. Not only the Buddha but also the creators of all religions are the same. They’ve been used yet can not argue. Why? Because of the superstition of believers.

We have to talk about the cultivation as ascetics or layperson. Some people have ascetic complex, and some have a renunciation complex. This is a good thing and a bad thing as well. The Saddhamma period. It might be still good, but in the Dharma ending period, it is quite a trouble. It is easy to blindly become a crazy fan of monks, to blindly worship them, only to recognize their clothes but not know who they really are.

Just as we have always emphasized: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha are three sides of our Buddha nature, we cannot seek for the outside world,
Taking refuge in the self-nature Buddha, taking refuge in the self-nature Dharma, taking refuge in the self-nature ascetics, those are a devotee. The real temple is our material body, our face like Maitreya, eyes like Vedic, ears like Avalokiteshvara, our hands and legs as heavenly king, our heart like the great Buddha’s hall. We do not spend a penny on building our own temple. To maintain it, we don’t have to put ourselves lowly. Standing like a Bodhi tree and sit like a relic stupa.

Sincerely cultivate to approach the Buddha-hood, do not seek outside.

The light of self-nature appears from time to time, we only need to work hard in our heart, Zen school use the investigating a topic to bring suspicion to cut off the false mind, then our mind naturally becomes empty and clean. Pure Land Buddhism uses reciting Buddha’s name to seize this heart, to keep heart not to stay in phase. The secret Dharma uses body, speech and mind to convert the heart to the Buddha and Bodhisattva. Zen, pure land and secret Dharma are all emphasized to start from the heart, from the polluted to the clean, from the false to the truth, until the heart is vacuumed, we will naturally enlighten the true phase of no phase at all.

furthermore, true spiritual practitioners must learn how to observe, observe day by day, second by second. Observing the body is not clean, observing the feeling is suffering, observing the heart is impermanent, observing the Dharma is selfless, and the observing various methods are empty. Beheld but five heaps, and he saw that in their own-being they were empty.

When we sit there meditate and chant, we are easy to observe to make our heart and speech respond appropriately, however, when we finished our meditation, it is easy to fall into the realm and follow it. The cultivation in meditation is assisting rather than main cultivation; real cultivation is on the moments you are not meditating.

Why? How many hours can you sit and meditate in a day?

I mean compared with the time of the whole day, the proportion of meditation is too little. The rest of the time, we were like wild horses, stay in the phase, how can we enlighten? As we have said before, cultivation is the conversion of our hearts, transfer the heart of obsession into the consciousness, transfer the false heart into Buddha’s heart. When you are meditating, you are not in touch with the outside world. Nobody can test you; this is the most convenient time to cultivate.

After meditation, you have to contact with the outside world. It is time to test you and keep your heart still, not go with the situation. Work that doing After meditation is real work. The meditation is like to sharp a knife; if this knife is blunt, it must be polished. However, if you do not cut something, how do you know the knife is sharp enough or not? How do you know you can pass through the realm? How do you know that meditation is effective or not? Only when you use it and found yourself still follow the realm, you will say: “Oh! My knife is sharp enough; I have to shape it by my heart!”

There you go, you got the way that pushes yourself to hard work.

Well, we will be here today. I hope everyone will be able to open your wisdom eyes to distinguish and follow the true Dharma. Osifu led the disciples to go to pilgrimage the eight holy sites of Buddha Shakyamuni again and again, to help disciples to understand the teaching of Buddha, to learn the Dhamma, to get close to the Buddha, lets us see the difference, to rethink the current situation, to seek the truth, to learn the true teaching of Buddha, to follow the true Dharma, to inherit and carry forward the wisdom and teachings from Buddha, this is our mission and wisdom derived from our own nature.

Thank you for the listening!
